Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for Security Officer on a temporary basis. The role is full time and the rate of pay is £9.81 per hour.

Start: ASAP
Contract ends: on going
Rate: £9.81ph
Shift: 4on 4off involving day, night and also weekend/public holiday working.

Purpose of Post:
To ensure and maintain the security, safety and integrity of all buildings and to provide a safe and secure environment for all staff, visitors and collections.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol and secure and ensure any intrusion, flood or fires are prevented and / or detected as soon as possible
Monitor CCTV systems as appropriate, assisting in preparing footage for any CCTV investigations in accordance with CCTV protocols.
Adhere to and apply all Security Control Room and out of hours reception procedures including the verification and issuing of identification passes to all visitors and contractors
Respond appropriately to emergency evacuations, applying Security Room procedures and relevant security, alarm, fire, bomb, safety and evacuation procedures.
Support Visitor Experience staff in dealing with emergency and conflict situations.
Conduct regular checks on fire doors, intruder and fire systems and building plant and systems to ensure correct and safe operations, reporting any defects or potential hazards as necessary.
Respond at all times in a courteous, respectful and professional manner when dealing with visitors, staff, contractors and members of the public.
Supervise all aspects of contractor activity on site, including security, safety, misconduct, damage to buildings or collections, and ensure the validity of Hot Work permits
Provide assistance for all received NMS mail, including goods and artefact deliveries as required, particularly at weekends and out of hours
Undertake a limited range of cleaning and housekeeping duties where appropriate at Key Control.
Ensure that vehicular access for emergency service vehicles is maintained wherever possible iand permit emergency vehicle access as required.
Commit to good health & safety and access practice and ensure familiarity health & safety and access policies, procedures and guidelines.

Essential Skills:
Knowledge of receptions duties / access control for staff, contractors and visitors
Good knowledge of security, fire, intruder and CCTV systems and procedures
Good knowledge of Health and Safety at Work procedures
Ability to remain calm and positive when dealing with a wide range of enquiries and
A good telephone and radio procedures manner to deal with enquiries and requests
for assistance
Proven relevant experience working in a security environment
Experience in dealing with incidents / situations requiring an immediate or
timed response
